Energy Consultant – Hydrogen & Decarbonisation
Reducing carbon dioxide emissions to mitigate the risk of catastrophic climate change is the most important challenge facing humanity today. At the heart of this challenge, is the transformation of our energy system to accommodate net zero emission technologies.
At Arup we recognise that this will require the combined skills of many disciplines including engineers, economists, entrepreneurs, regulators and society at large in a collaborative and innovative way.
We are growing our pool of talent to build on our excellent track record of helping clients with this transition in the offshore wind, hydrogen, decarbonisation, regulated networks and urban energy sectors, and are looking for people who share our passion for decarbonising the energy system, across a wide range of skill areas, grades and geographies.
We are looking for Energy Consultants across all grades. You will represent Arup as an energy consultant, supporting a diverse range of energy projects in the future energy sector. Commissions will be across a range of clients, technologies, and project values, depending on your expertise and experience, with a strong emphasis on the integration of multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality technical and commercial solutions. There will be opportunities to represent Arup at external industry events and forums. The role will demand collaborative working with other consultants, planners and engineers to deliver challenging commissions.
Your Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of a broad range of future energy technologies with an overall understanding
- of how the energy industry is integrated.
- A consultancy advisory skill set and expertise which could include technology & innovation,
- regulation & policy, economics & commercial, planning & environmental, and project
- management.
- Appreciation of overarching energy legislation, policy, incentives and funding structures
- influencing the energy industry.
- A strong technical understanding of a range of equipment and processes used in energy transition,
- hydrogen and/or decarbonisation.
- A strong interest in infrastructure assets and how such assets are managed.
- Ability to project manage, co-ordinate and produce technical and commercial/market due diligence
- reports and decarbonisation strategies.
Your Education/Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or commercial subject.
- Ideally a master’s or other post-graduate qualification(s) in relevant subject(s).
- Chartered or working towards chartership of a relevant institution.
- Interested in hearing from professionals with knowledge in Offshore wind, Hydrogen, Utility networks (electricity and gas) or Decarbonisation
- Excellent team working and communication skills will be essential
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines on multiple projects.
- Highly analytical and digitally literate.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
