The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Engagement Specialist/Case Management Specialist for the Nashville Area Command, located in Nashville, Tennessee.This position will work at both South Corp and Murfreesboro location. Travel required.
Job Summary :
The Pathway of Hope Engagement Specialist for
the Families First grant develops key relationships among all sites, including Early Learning Centers (ELC) and Family Resource Centers. It builds a linkage/pathway for families transitioning from an early learning center environment into a primary school. In addition, they will provide resource guidance, plan and coordinate family engagement events, assist other team members in planning workshops and training, and build trust among partners and sites for referrals and services to be shared cohesively along a continuum.
This Engagement Specialist will provide coaching services for up to 10 Families to help them obtain goals. The Pathway of Hope Engagement Specialist also works with clients and reviews client assessments and individual action plans. This role ensures that the program is administered within the established policies and procedures while maintaining effective relationships with community agencies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge
of general office practices and principles.
Knowledge of social service practices and principles.
Ability to write and speak the English language.
Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to keep records, communicate within and outside the Agency and organize pertinent data and program materials.
Knowledge of excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build internal and external relationships through communication with the care team, partners, potential Families First partners, and the community.
Demonstrating credibility in all interactions reflects the ability to effectively build a network of contacts and resources that would benefit Families First.
Ability to create and maintain high-performance standards that capitalize on opportunities to build finance, Health, and Education support by developing relationships that drive results.
Ability to effectively communicate through oral, written, and technological means; actively listening and expressing oneself clearly, to ensure those needing specific information acquire it, plan and deliver communication that makes an impact and persuades the audience.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; requires time management knowledge, setting priorities, and project plans.
Ability to plan work and carries out tasks without detailed instructions; make constructive suggestions; prepare for problems or opportunities in advance; undertake additional responsibilities; respond to situations as they arise with minimal supervision.
Ability to display emotional resilience and withstand pressure on an on-going basis; Deals with difficult situations while maintaining performance; Seeks support from others when necessary and uses appropriate coping techniques.
Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve goals and objectives; continually tries to improve teamwork to achieve maximum results; Supports group decisions and puts group ahead of own purposes; effectively interacts with others.
Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Ability to meet attendance requirements; this is a critical operating position, and conscientious attendance is paramount.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light (25 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Light mobility: duties are usually performed by sitting, standing, walking, and primarily sitting.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related
field.
Three years of Experience and demonstrated interest in working with persons experiencing poverty.
Knowledge of community resources and counseling/coaching/social work practices
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Work is performed in a typical office environment where there are little to no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like; some face-to-face contact with the homeless or less fortunate may present health and safety issues, or confrontational situations.
