By joining the Project Delivery and Preservation Branch in Shelby County as an Engineer-in-Training I, you’ll have the opportunity to perform technical engineering work to develop practical skills.
Holders of the Engineer-in-Training I position will complete tasks such as:

Holders of the Engineer-in-Training I position will complete tasks such as:
- Perform engineering tasks in road construction and maintenance.
- Oversee portions of highway projects to analyze data collected
- Recommend, review and/or alter design plans through a series of detailed engineering steps or processes.
- Knowledge of professional engineering practices
- Determine that various tasks performed by the contractor conform to approved plans and engineering standards
- Analyze results of tests on construction materials for conformance with engineering standards and specification
- Apply engineering principles to highway construction and maintenance
- Experience in Civil Engineering
- Experience in Construction Management

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering and certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title will perform duties in an office setting as well as in a field setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
