Job Summary
: This is entry level professional scientific work performing field data collection and monitoring.


Job duties include
:

  • Performs water quality sampling and field science.
  • Performs biological monitoring.
  • Performs field data entry and documentation.
  • Performs maintenance of field sampling equipment, vehicles and vessels.


Minimum Qualifications
:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, limnology, chemistry, botany, environmental science, or related field and a valid Florida driver’s license.

Professional experience in an environmental field can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

SJRWMD has determined this to be a mandatory-testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes. Any offer of employment for a mandatory-testing position and will be contingent upon successfully passing a drug screening paid by SJRWMD. Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

Swim; lift and/or move equipment; operate under extreme and stressful environmental conditions; communicate well with others; maintain a priority of safety, data integrity, and efficiency during sampling events in this order, and make effective, consistent, and defensible decisions in the field.

Routine physical efforts that include standing and hiking for long periods of time, collecting water samples from boats, bridges, streams, etc. (lifting is required). Construction and maintenance of experimental structures , planting vegetation, wading through dense SAV stands and under extreme conditions, going underwater to count submerged aquatic vegetation with sampling equipment, in close proximity to wildlife (including snakes and alligators); and operation of boats under all weather conditions including high seas; extreme heat and extreme cold temperatures, inclement weather conditions; driving trucks and trailers; all activities may be performed under environmentally stressful conditions, adverse weather conditions, and extremely tight deadlines.


Licenses:

Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

:

Salary Range: $43,638.40 - $54,537.60

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
