Position Description
The Equipment Operator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires knowledge/experience of Matting Industry, Civil Construction items (Culvert Install, Access Roads, TCE’s, Gate Installs, etc.), and Erosion & Sediment Control items. The Operator will be required to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold environments.
Responsibilities
Depending on experience, the Equipment Operator is expected to efficiently and safely operate most or all equipment and attachment types currently in the company fleet:
Track Skid Steers- Bucket, 4' forks, 6' forks, Brush Hog, Trencher, Broom, Jack Hammer, Spreader, Rock Hound, Harley Rake
Excavators- Jack Hammer, Tamper, Ditch Bucket, Tooth Bucket
Wheel Loader- Forks, Bucket, Plow Box
Dozer- Roller, Street Sweeper, Morooka, Telehandler, Off- road Truck (off- road dump), Straw Blowers, Tractors
- Must have a clear understanding of ground signals, and maintain constant eye contact with ground personnel. daily pre- and post-equipment inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Participate in routine maintenance, greasing etc.
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
- Practice workplace safety and maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their co-workers.
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must be able to operate equipment largely independently, self-directed and with minimal supervision.
- Effectively communicate to all site personnel.
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
Position Requirements:
- Three or more years of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on large construction projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with ability to read and write fluently (English).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Three or more years of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on large construction projects.
- Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends, and work extensive overtime.
- Knowledge of safety hazards of construction projects.
- Skill in reading and interpreting Access and Construction Plans.
- Knowledge of construction inspection principles and techniques.
- Skill in setting up and maintaining records.
- Be able to report to work at the designated location and start time.
