The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Equipment Operator II.

This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt position based on a 40-hour work week with an hourly pay of $17.49 per hour. This position is part of the Public Employees Union (PEU) collective bargaining unit. The individual in this position will work out of the Public Works Grounds/Cemetery Building located at 1724 12th Ave S.

SUMMARY:

Skilled work in the operation of intermediate and/or complex construction and maintenance equipment for Public Services in the Parks/Cemetery Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate bucket truck during tree trimming operations
• Operate dump truck
• Self-propelled fairway mower, small front end mower soil grader, with large front end loader
• Backhoe or other grounds maintenance equipment used in construction maintenance
• Maintenance and repair of City parks/cemeteries
• Must perform routine maintenance work as related to parks, and cemetery divisions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation backhoe front end loader, etc.
• Considerable knowledge in the use and maintenance of equipment used in the construction and maintenance of City parks and cemeteries
• Knowledge of horticulture or related experience preferred but not required
• Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma/GED

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read, write and speak English. Bilingual preferred, but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess Commercial Driver's License with "Class B" endorsement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to run, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch and stand for long periods of time. The employee must regularly lift 50 pounds frequently.
