Street Maintenance Operations manages the City’s 2,005 centerline miles of roadway and 5,507 alleys to ensure mobility, safety, and ADA compliance for residents and visitors. Street Maintenance is responsible for filling potholes, repaving streets, sweeping streets, and removing snow from public streets, sidewalks, and alleys. The agency also manages the City’s asphalt plant, which provides asphalt for resurfacing and maintaining all Denver city streets and alleys.
The Street Maintenance team has an opening for an Equipment Operator III (Front-End Loader).
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Operates heavy construction Front End Loader in all environments for which the equipment is used including supplying and stocking the asphalt plant and crusher with material

Performs Pre and Post Trip inspections of equipment to ensure proper working order, which includes checking fluid levels and leaks, condition of hoses and belts, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and other related mechanical components as required by the City and/or the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles

Assists in the preventive maintenance and of equipment such as adding oil, greasing zerks and joints, changing bulbs, and changing air filters, etc.

Performs general laboring duties for projects to which the equipment is assigned including assisting with the asphalt plant and crusher operations, clean up, maintenance and repairs.

Participates in required overtime

Completes daily work reports and paperwork as required.

Observes all safety practices associated with the operation of equipment, and common hand and power tools

Acts as a lead worker, training, assigning, and overseeing the work of other personnel

Participates in snow removal duties as needed
-
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
-
Minimum 1 year of basic loader /skid steer operation experience

Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience operating medium sized, specialized equipment which must include two (2) years of experience operating large, heavy industrial equipment.

Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirements.
-
License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL "B") with appropriate endorsements at the time of application.

Requires a CDL Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of hire.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
