What You’ll Do:

The Executive Director, Oncology Program Management reports to the VP Late Stage Oncology Clinical Operations and is accountable for the quality of program management and clinical operations activities within the Oncology portfolio. Our key functions ensure that robust strategic and operational planning has been incorporated throughout the governance process, drive standardization, issue resolution and lead all aspects of delivery of projects to plan.

Key Accountabilities:

  • You will communicate the business priorities and vision to staff ensuring adoption of globally agreed TA and clinical development strategies, align resources to meet the clinical drug project demands in collaboration with other departments and capacity management and ensure delivery of all the key components of the global clinical programs within scope

  • You will work across the group to lead and develop the global customer interface and support model for the TA, act as a key point of escalation for issues impacting across programs, and maintain and implement a clinical operations TA strategy for delivery of the overall portfolio

  • As a leader of leaders, you will coordinate key people management activities including recruitment, performance management and development, engagement, and retention in concert with other senior leaders to build and ignite a successful team across the globe

  • You will provide strategic leadership to drive projects and champion a culture defined by strong performance

  • As a part of the broader leadership team you will sponsor Clinical Operations nondrug strategy & organizational infrastructures, contribute to the development and maintenance of delivery options, balancing customer needs and efficiency to deliver withing agreed budget targets

  • You will also line management the individuals/ teams associated with alliance projects with other companies our productivity/performance projects and the Partners in Care programs.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Extensive experience in late-stage Oncology Drug Development, preferably Oncology and proven contributions to functional improvement initiatives that cross clinical programs

  • Experience with GI indications of oncology

  • Line management experience, preferably of those at the AD or Director level and demonstrated experience identifying and providing opportunities to improve the capabilities of other people

  • Functional management experience including leading resourcing, budget planning and functional level activities

  • Strong influencing skills, communication, stakeholder management, and change management that enable team to make valuable contributions to the business

  • Proven track record to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives in a global environment and the ability to employ innovative and creative approaches that support continuous improvement based on awareness of external leading practices

  • Strong awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences and their impact on communication, expectations, and performance

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree

  • Significant experience in Clinical Development with knowledge of global operational program and study delivery

  • Experience working internationally: working with major markets, resolution of international issues and leading successful tams from more than one national culture

  • Business planning skills and knowledge/experience of planning processes used in managing drug projects

  • Risk and crisis management experience
