The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.


The incumbent will be responsible for performing major and specialized housekeeping at the high-profile facility, Woodward House Estate which includes the main level, basement, and periodically the Cottage House. Provides additional cleaning services for special events. Will also perform a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university. Uses supplies and resources in a cost efficient manner. Adheres to established procedures of maintaining cleanliness in areas of responsibility.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:

Woodward House:

  • Provides housekeeping services for high profile historical facility requiring specialized services. Performs routine and major cleaning of public and private spaces on main level and basement. Adheres to established schedule to maintain property and furnishings. Maintains indoor and outdoor spaces porches, patios, staircases, interior/exterior doors, windows, windowsills, valuable paintings, furnishings, etc. Ensures areas are free of dust and dirt accumulation.
  • Maintains the appearance of a variety of flooring. Follows established schedule and uses proper solutions, techniques and equipment. Floor maintenance could include vacuuming and spot treatment of carpets and rugs, sweeping, dust and damp mopping hard surface floors.
  • Interacts with building inhabitants and guests in a professional manner with a focus on providing concierge-level customer service and performing duties with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Maintains cleanliness of main level kitchen daily. Operates commercial-grade appliances. Performs deep cleaning of commercial kitchen, on a scheduled basis. Keeps all areas supplied with towels, soap, tissue and other needed items. Empty, cleans, and relines all waste receptacles.
  • Washes, irons, folds and maintains linens, towels and other items according to schedule.
  • Uses great care to effectively clean and maintain antique and historical items. Polishes brass and silver items on a regular schedule. Ensures proper storage of items and assists with maintaining inventory.
  • Reports to supervisor needed improvements and repairs or maintenance.
  • Operates and maintains commercial-grade appliances and cleaning equipment. Uses approved cleaning techniques and cleaning solutions in a safe manner.
  • Assists with special events. Assists contractors, caterers and others with set-up and clean up. Ensures proper care and use of facility and equipment.
  • Will train to relieve Residence Executive Housekeeper II as backup, during vacation off days or sick days.
  • Answer incoming calls and open front gate when needed.

University (Campus):

  • Performs a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university. Responds to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents. Adheres to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Completes tasks independently, using professional cleaning techniques. Actively participates in ongoing training to maintain professional cleaning skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

ยท Empty, cleans and replaces liners in waste containers daily. Coordinates removal of recycling and large waste and debris items.

  • Regularly inspects and refills supply of paper, soap and other products throughout the shift to ensure supplies are available at all times.
  • Maintains carpeted areas through daily vacuuming and spot treatment of stains. Maintains hard flooring and stair treads through daily sweeping, wet and/or dry mopping.
  • Inspects and actively maintains cleanliness of high-traffic areas such as restrooms, breakrooms and lobby areas throughout shift. Actively maintains cleanliness of door handles, water fountains, light switches, elevator buttons and similar high-contact surfaces.
  • Dusts, cleans and disinfects a variety of surfaces to include furniture, walls, doors, glass, windows, counters, lab and bathroom fixtures.
  • Properly uses, stores and maintains adequate supply of equipment and cleaning products. Uses resources in a safe, cost-effective manner.
  • Uses assigned communication device to read and respond to texts, emails and service requests. Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (subject to change to meet the needs of the University).


Starting Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $16.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)


Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required.


PERSONAL:

Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include:

  • Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
  • Climbing stairs
  • Performing tasks requiring bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling and extensive walking within the house and close proximity outside on the property
  • Working in confined spaces
