Summary:
Responsible and accountable for providing patient care within the Cardiac Rehabilitation areas of Heart Care, under the supervision of the Lead Cardiac Rehab RN and/or Cardiology Supervisor. Supports the philosophy of the Cardiology Department and Beebe Medical Center.

Other information:
Experience in formulating exercise prescriptions from exercise tolerance tests.Cardiac Rehab experience preferred.Self-motivated, results-oriented with a positive outlook. Energetic personality that serves to motivate patients. Good communication skills. Dysrhythmia recognition skills essential. Verbal, written and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities:
Demonstrates the ability to accurately and competently initiate, supervise, monitor, and evaluate daily cardiac rehab therapy sessions with thorough documentation. Performs client history intake; collects clinical data; and conducts physical examinations. Conducts initial fitness evaluation with clients, explains fitness test results, exercise action plan, and safety guidelines. Identifies orthopedic, neurological, metabolic or other conditions which may interfere with a clients successful participation in the exercise program. Notes/ communicates these problems, and establishes an action plan to accommodate special health/ physical issues. Develops a safe and effective exercise prescription utilizing the FITT principles (Frequency, Intensity, Time and Type), the ACSM, and the AACVPR exercise standards. Monitors client progress to include personal motivation as well as participants tolerance of the exercise program through observation and utilization of metabolic and clinical data including BP, HR, RR, and RPE according to established policies. Makes modifications in program as necessary. Assists with planning post-program follow-up to assist in carrying out maintenance program. Acts as a preceptor for exercise interns and provides education to the staff and patients in the area of expertise. Knowledgeable regarding technical equipment in specialty areas. Develops monitoring techniques and specialized types of exercise equipment to satisfy needs of the program. Recognizes emergency situations and can initiate code procedures or administer first aide or CPR as needed. Rotates in an on-call status. Actively participates in performance improvement process to include evaluating, reporting and follow-up recommendations.
