Activision Blizzard is looking for a talented and motivated Expert Detection and Response Engineer to join its ranks. This role is part of a 24x7x365 global operations team which partners closely with other operational departments. The team adheres to a ‘follow the sun’ support model with typical shifts occurring during normal business hours per region. The ideal candidate is considered an expert in their field, has several years of training and experience in information security operations with broad experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, and is looking for an excellent opportunity to merge their twin passions for gaming and security.
Impact
- Work with multiple teams across security and the broader organization as a defining contributor to project success
- Champion information security objectives across the department and global organization
- Proactively identify security operations program issues and drive tangible improvements across all program functions
- Share knowledge and expertise team-wide and help the team resolve its most difficult challenges
Responsibilities
- Resolve complex detection engineering and incident response automation challenges
- Drive improvements to all security operations program metrics
- Lead efforts to reduce false positive security alerts and to improve the overall efficacy of custom detections
- Identify operational visibility gaps and drive improvements in deficient areas
- Champion organization-wide improvements in cloud environment monitoring strategies
- Create and enhance operating procedures and related documentation
- Monitor company networks for potential security risks or anomalies
- Perform security event analysis and triage
- Participate in the incident response process with an emphasis on driving program improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information security; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years of experience in an information security role (or relevant IT role) with a recent emphasis on detection engineering, automation of incident analysis, or forensics
- Expert-level experience with securing major operating systems and computer networks in a large enterprise environment
- Experience with all phases of a typical incident response process
- Experience with one or more scripting languages, especially for use in task automation
- Experience with enterprise SIEM solutions
- Experience with cloud security concepts and cloud monitoring strategies
- Experience with commercial and open-source endpoint security products (e.g., Endpoint Detection and Response, Antivirus, and related tools)
- Experience with advanced network intrusion detection and prevention systems
- Willingness to take part in an on-call rotation
- Willingness to work different shifts, holidays, or weekends if needed
- Willingness to travel occasionally in support of company events
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $121,500.00 - $224,880.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation.
