B.L. Harbert International is looking for an Export Loading Technician to work in our International Logistics Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Applicants will be responsible for the loading and unloading of a variety of construction materials. Preferences will be given to candidates with carpentry experience.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and handle power tools and hand tools
• Unload materials as directed by Warehouse Manager
• Assist in issuing materials and delivering to drop off area
• Assist in receiving materials
• Maintain safe and clean work environment by organizing the workplace, assigning a clean-up crew at the end of the day, stowing away tools and small equipment properly and implementing the 5S methodology

Requirements:

• US citizen
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the US Government
• Ability to lift packages up to 70 pounds
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience
• Ability to operate 5-ton Forklift
• Physical wellness to include ability to perform the Physical Demands below, and medical clearance (FCE – Agility Test) certifying ability to perform these Physical Demands. The ability to perform these Physical Demands is an ongoing condition of employment, and employee consents as a condition of employment to re-test for medical clearance upon request, including but not limited to drug testing. Failure to pass all tests shall be grounds for immediate dismissal.

Preferences:

• Valid Commercial Driver's License
• Carpentry experience
• Experience with construction materials
• Knowledge of lumber, cabinetry, carpeting, plumbing, lighting fixtures, etc.

Physical Demands:

To perform the duties of this job, the employee must:

• Have the ability to repetitively use hands to grasp, reach above and below with arms, and work overhead
• Have the ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, bend, balance and twist for extended periods
• Have the ability to frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 75 lbs.
• Possess the manual dexterity to utilize and operate construction tools and/or construction equipment and machinery
• Possess physical agility and mobility, to include safely maneuvering throughout the job site
