The Division of Enterprise Services (DES) is seeking to fill a Facilities Management Specialist 2 position with the Office of Facilities, Safety and Risk Management (OFSRM). This position will be headquartered in Madison at the 1 W. Wilson St. office building in the heart of downtown Madison, near the State Capitol, the Madison Metro route and the Capital City bike path.

Position Summary


This position develops and coordinates overall space planning and usage to ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources in multiple divisions’ leased and owned space throughout the state, including DHS’ 24/7 health care facilities. This includes working directly with the agency Facility Management Officer. This position will independently manage projects such as staff relocations, interior design, and construction.

This position also plays a supporting role in the department’s emergency response/continuity of operations program. They work with the Agency Risk Manager to provide ergonomic assessments to staff upon request and provide direction, training and advice to agency managers on necessary purchases for their employees. The position will work with the agency Physical Security Manager when installations, remodels and upgrades are needed for offices throughout the state.

Salary Information


The starting pay is between $31-$34/hour ($64,480-$70,720 annually), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. This position is in pay schedule and range 07/03. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.

Job Details

  • All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
  • All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether they are vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.
  • DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have both of the following:

  • Experience planning and managing staff or office moves, including furniture reconfiguration projects.
  • Formal training and experience with Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software for space planning efforts.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience ensuring compliance with State building and fire codes and federal laws/regulations (e.g., Americans with Disabilities Act, OSHA, etc.).
  • Experience working with State of Wisconsin Department of Administration space standards and leasing.
  • Experience with space management policies and procedures including implementation of space standards and maximization of space usage such as scheduling for multiple occupants.
