Portage Country Club seeks an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee all property maintenance-related activities. The Facilities Manager is responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe and well-functioning. Portage Country Club is a 127-year-old leader in service and facilities in Akron, OH.
Essential Job Duties:
As the Facilities Manager at Portage Country Club, you will:
- Create and nurture positive member relationships, displaying a pleasant, outgoing, and caring personality and a professional style of dress and personal grooming.
- Hire, train, and supervise facilities maintenance staff. Offer guidance and mentorship through frequent team and individual meetings.
- Lead by example to motivate and empower team members to take on individual responsibility through hands-on training, delegation, support, and follow-through.
- Analyze and provide cost-effective and/or cost-saving solutions to facilities repairs and maintenance.
- Develop short- and long-term requirements for repairs and maintenance, capital replacement, and capital requirements.
- Control key and security systems, including cameras.
- Maintain an ongoing energy management plan for the property’s HVAC and lighting systems.
- Check fire protection system for proper operation & train personnel in operation.
- Maintain and make repairs to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Maintain and repair equipment and appliances.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance per Portage Country Club’s maintenance schedule.
- Perform carpentry, painting, and facilities repair work as needed.
- Delegate tasks to facilities maintenance staff and oversee completion of work.
- Maintain a log of all repairs.
- Conduct periodic inspections of engineering-related facilities.
- Schedule or respond to maintenance requests from Portage Country Club managers and employees.
- Keep an accurate inventory of maintenance supplies and order items as needed for maintenance, work orders, and general supplies.
- Ensures OSHA work requirements are met and that MSDSs are available.
- Serves as liaison between Portage Country Club and regulatory agencies, contractors, and vendors.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and continuously move for the duration of a regular shift.
- Must be able to maneuver, bend, twist, pivot, and navigate stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. or more.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- At least three years of experience working in facilities management is preferred.
- HVAC certification is required.
- At least one year in a leadership role is preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to create an environment that cultivates teamwork and camaraderie among team members.
- Experience with using computers.
