Job SummaryThe Facilities Staff will support the various facility needs of all UTEC buildings in Lowell, Haverhill and Lawrence. This position helps ensure the facilities are up to code, well maintained, and safe for not just the staff at UTEC, but most importantly the young adults they serve.

Duties/ResponsibilitiesKeeps a building in clean and orderly condition by performing a combination of activities including cleaning assigned areasMaintains the cleanliness and appearance of floors by sweeping, mopping, and vacuumingWashes interior surfaces of buildings such as walls, ceilings, windows, etc. using appropriate supplies and equipmentEmpties waste receptacles throughout the buildingsPerforms related duties such as loading and unloading equipment and supplies from vehicles, moving furniture in rooms for special functions or meetingsUtilizes advanced custodial equipment such as automatic cleaning equipment, snow blowers, and lawn mowersAbility to complete maintenance, carpentry related tasks such as trim, minor plumbing, patching and painting, minor drywall, cabinet install, basic door and hardware install etc.Performs routine maintenance of walkways, roadways, and drainage systemsRoutinely uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instrumentsExamining property for safety hazards and reporting problems to facility managerEnsuring all equipment such as heating and cooling systems are operationalEnsuring that cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.Modifying scope of cleaning and maintenance based on specified needs of the particular propertyPerforms related duties as required. Required Skills/Abilities Work well with othersGood communicationAbility to use of hand and power toolsDrivers licenseHave a strong work ethic with reliability and dependabilityAbility and desire to jump in and assist with other community projectsEnjoy working with others and taking direction when neededValid drivers license and good driving recordExcellent customer service skillsProfessional attitude and demeanorMust possess good time management and organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, tactfully deal with unforeseen challenges and people Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent1-2 years handyman experience Physical Requirements Ability to perform outdoor work for prolonged periods of time during inclement weather conditions.Frequent climbing, bending, stooping and reaching, occasional work in restricted spaces and frequent carrying/transporting heavy loads up to 50 lb. This is a full time position, Monday through Friday 2pm-10pm.

Please note that there will be an orientation period when hired, which will require a schedule of 8am-4pm for the first 30 days. From there, the Facilities Staff will start working the posted shift, 2pm-10pm.The hourly rate for this role is $18-$20 per hour plus benefits.
