The City of Tukwila is a dynamic suburb of Seattle, Washington with a population of 21,000 residents and a daytime population of more than 125,000 due to its strong retail, manufacturing, and industrial base. Tukwila shares borders with the Cities of Seattle, Renton, SeaTac, Burien and Kent. Its central location lies in the heart of the Puget Sound Region, sitting 12 miles south of downtown Seattle, 17 miles north of downtown Tacoma, and just east of SeaTac Airport. It is easily accessed by I-5 and I-405 or via either of Tukwila's two train stations, the Sounder Station or the Sound Transit Light Rail Station. With more than 80 languages spoken in its schools, Tukwila is one of the most diverse communities in the region and home to Westfield Southcenter, the largest mall in the Pacific Northwest.

About Our Community:
The Tukwila Community Center is home to meeting rooms, classrooms, banquet facilities, and a commercial kitchen. The Center is located near the I-5/I-405 interchange and near highways 99 and 599, making access easy. There is plenty of free on-site parking, and the convenient location makes the Center the perfect location for indoor conferences, meetings, special events, and more.
This position is a seasonal/temporary position and Non-PERS Eligible. All positions are limited, part time and will not exceed 1040 hours in a 12-month period. You can expect to work 15 - 20 hours per week depending on program needs. It is preferred that individuals be available Friday and Saturday and possibly Sundays. Must be flexible with the hours you work. May include daytime and/or evening work.

Computerized registration of participants into various recreation classes and programs.
Collects fees, reconciles computer accounts and balances daily cash register till.
Completes word processing documents, spreadsheets and flyers, and provides related clerical functions and reports as assigned.
Assists with equipment set-up and clean-up for classes, activities and rentals, which may include lifting up to 50 lbs.
Opens/secures the facility and/or rooms and conducts frequent facility checks including the parking lot using a daily checklist.
Oversees the proper use of the facility by patrons and rental groups, and enforces rules and regulations as needed.
Assists with facility cleanliness prior to and following program use, and assures proper clean-up of the facility by rental groups.
Assist with the rental application/reservation process and conducts facility tours when appropriate.
Ability to communicate well orally and in writing;
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Ability to learn office procedures;
Friendly, positive and supportive customer service skills to respond to public inquiries regarding programs, activities, events and rentals in person and on a multi-line phone system;
Physical ability sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
(A) Currently enrolled in high school or possess high school diploma or G.E.D.; (B) Six months prior experience in similar work environment, with some continuing education is preferred; (C) Computer experience and cash handling is desired; (D) Some college-level coursework in Recreation, Education or related field preferred but not required.
Special Requirements:
Must posses a valid Driver's License/ID, or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
Maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain prior to employment.
Ability to lift/maneuver up to 50 lbs.

HOURS OF WORK
Hours of work vary depending on the position and may require night and weekend shifts.
PAY DAYS
Pay days occur on the 10th and 25th of each month (24 pay periods annually).
Direct deposit of pay is available.
SICK LEAVE
As provided by Washington State Initiative 1433 included in RCW 49.46
RETIREMENT
Some positions may be eligible for membership in the Washington State Retirement PERS Plan 2 or PERS Plan 3 systems. Both the employee and the employer contribute to these plans.
