ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and is located in Pinetops, North Carolina. As a Facility Mechanic 1st and 2nd shift, you will be head of the maintenance and continued efficiency of HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and electrical to optimize technical and financial resources.

Your responsibilities

  • Working with the engineering team to specify maintenance plans for new production lines or facilities
  • Consulting on ways to improve reliability, maintainability, and safety
  • Solving major technical, equipment or facilities challenges to achieve higher performance of the production lines and facility
  • Reacting promptly to any emergencies, breakdowns, malfunctions or other problems to minimize disruption to production
  • Proposing improvements for processes and production lines aimed at reducing maintenance and optimizing operational and energy efficiency
  • Implementing health, safety and environmental guidelines and directives

Your background

  • Applicant must have five years of experience in electrical working as a facility technician that can work independent and familiar with an industrial facility setting
  • Demonstrated experience working on facility related equipment such as industrial wiring and controls, electrical code, and installation in air drops
  • Knowledge of building drawings, electrical schematics, and computer experience with Microsoft software is required
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • An associate’s degree in facility maintenance or five years’ experience in a related electrical field
  • Electrical license is preferred
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
