The Center for Research on Health Care (CRHC), in the Division of General Internal Medicine, University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, is seeking a full-time physician-scientist at the rank of Assistant Professor in the tenure stream. This is an extraordinary opportunity for early and mid-career clinician investigators to join a supportive, innovative academic environment and a world-class health system. Qualified applicants must have an MD or equivalent clinical degree in internal medicine or a related primary care field with research training in clinical and/or health services research. Special consideration will be given to individuals with interests in health care disparities and the care of minority and vulnerable populations. Applicants should have one or more years of experience in the field of clinical and/or health services research; demonstrate the ability to obtain external research funding supporting innovative research; have disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums; have relevant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for career development and promotion.

The incumbent will join a group of CRHC faculty who study a broad range of health-related research topics and possess diverse methodological expertise across the qualitative and quantitative spectrum. Together, CRHC faculty make substantial contributions to the tripartite research, the clinical, and educational mission of two premier institutions, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC. The incumbent will also have the opportunity to collaborate or seek joint appointments with a large VA HSR&D Center of Innovation (CHERP). The incumbent will be expected to develop, perform, and disseminate health services and clinical research projects in their areas of interest, with the goal of becoming a successful independent investigator. CRHC faculty are supported in their professional development by engaged mentorship from senior faculty, exceptional research training and career development programs, and robust infrastructure including statistical and budget support. The incumbent will teach students at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in both classroom and clinical settings, and provide additional mentoring to students, fellows, and more junior faculty in the practice of clinical research. Clinical practice opportunities are provided through UPMC in both hospital and ambulatory settings.

Salary and additional incentives will be commensurate with qualifications.
