Job description
We are looking to add an entry-level construction management professional to our team.
Cella Building Company is a small construction firm located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our mission is to lead the industry in sustainable development and building practices. Beyond our list of industry awards, we have many proud firsts, including the first Carbon Neutral apartment building in Grand Rapids.
This position is 90% job site, 10% corporate office. All projects are in the greater Grand Rapids area.
Responsibilities:
Schedule and coordinate subcontractors.
Maintain project records on internet-based project management system.
Provide project leadership as part of the team.
Prepare and update two-week look-ahead schedules and review with the project team.
Review and maintain all required permits to meet the schedule.
Conduct progress meetings with subcontractors to foster communication and minimize schedule impacts and delays.
Attend inspections by governing agencies as necessary to meet the schedule.
Understand the overall project budget and work with Project Manager to minimize budget overruns.
Manage Change Orders
Complete detailed daily job reports identifying weather and average temperature, work force of Subcontractors, special materials required on-site, visitors to site, comments made by Inspectors and Architects, and any other comments deemed necessary to properly document the events.
Document project progress with daily photographs.
Inspect all work for compliance with industry and CBC standards.
Review the work of the subcontractors. Correct unsatisfactory work as project proceeds
Maintain clean job site.
Perform periodic safety inspections
Enforce MIOSHA and OSHA regulations (MSDS, safety programs, required postings, etc.).
Maintain a current First Aid and CPR Certificate – attend classes as required.
Attend final inspections and approvals from the regulatory agencies to meet the project requirements.
Manage and coordinate the timely completion of the punchlist, including sign-off by the Architect/Owner.
Organize jobsite files and work with the project team to archive project records.

Strong attitude toward additional training and learning new processes.
This construction management position requires excellent organizational skill as well as the ability to juggle multiple projects, while paying close attention to detail.
Candidate should have excellent written and verbal skills as well as mathematical and IT skills necessary to carry out administrative and accounting tasks for each project.
The ideal candidate for this entry-level position will possess a degree in construction management or comparable experience.
