Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for a candidate to lead a team of field technicians and engineers in support of installation, maintenance, and repairs to a wide variety of telecommunications systems, equipment, cabling, and to other related systems and equipment “off-site” (at customer’s locations) in the assigned region. This is a working supervisor position that requires in depth knowledge of Telecommunication and Networking related areas. This position is located at a key customer location and will require daily customer interface. Position will require interface with internal Network Operations Center and Engineering Operations/Implementation teams.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for the installation, repair, configuration, test and preventative maintenance of personal computers, network equipment, and/or telecommunications equipment
• Proficient in Microsoft or UNIX operating systems, and the components of the MS Office Suite. Maintains records on repairs, down time, changes and updates
• Perform basic software troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Perform other IT Infrastructure related work as required
• Utilize working knowledge of fiber, working knowledge of Multiplexes, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications
• Serve as the point of contact for unresolved problems from the Help Desk,
• Responsible for providing computer hardware, software and network technical support to end-users,
• Install/replace hardware and software, including operating systems on the desktop/laptop and peripheral platform
• Utilize working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449
• Utilize working knowledge of power testing, AD and DC including 3 Phase AC. Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies
• Utilize working knowledge and usage of the Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital O-scope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience in Telecommunications and/or Network Engineering experience; OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience in Telecommunications and/or Network Engineering experience
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License, and a satisfactory driving record, as conditions of initial (and continued) employment
• 4+ years of experience training and managing remote/field employees

Preferred/Additional Skills:

• Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds
• Capable of utilizing ladders, and step stools, to reach heights of approx 10 feet
• Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards
• Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• CCNA, CCNP, A+, MCP or MCDST, Dell Certified on desktop and laptop
• Willingness and/or ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs and to respond to after-hours emergency calls as required
• Excellent customer service skills and experience working in a professional environment
• Ability to work in high stress and visibility environment
