Department Overview:
As the Finance and Accounting Analyst 2 you will work with clinical trials leadership to support pre-award processes including account setup, determination of fees, staff time, etc. associated with each clinical trial. You will communicate and resolves issues with clinical trials leadership and Principal Investigators, prepares monthly reports on all clinical trial activities for the clinical trials leadership and senior-level Principal Investigators, and makes adjustments. You will maintain Labor Distribution (LD) for all clinical trials team members and works with the KCVI finance team and Clinical Trials Leadership to ensure complete coverage across all funding sources while ensuring that FTE paid appropriately reflects effort spent.
In addition, duties will include projects and activities that support other KCVI financial functions. These may include, but are not limited to, financial statements, general ledger support, department budgeting, and transactional support. Function/Duties of Position:

The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) seeks a highly qualified team member with exceptional financial analyst skills to support our Center’s growing and dynamic clinical research efforts. This position aims to ensure complete support for a high volume of complex grants and contracts awarded by federal agencies, foundations, industry, and others. KCVI is studying the risk factors for heart disease, cutting-edge treatments, prevention techniques, and the latest technology used to combat heart failure and genetic heart diseases. We support dozens of clinical trials to advance research and treatment of cardiovascular diseases to move Oregonians towards cardiovascular health.

In addition, duties will include projects and activities that support other KCVI financial functions. These may include, but are not limited to, financial statements, general ledger support, department budgeting, and transactional support.
- Using Cognos, Oracle, UFO, infoED, eCRIS, EPIC and other databases as necessary to develop, maintain, and present monthly clinical trial expenditure tracking reports including expenditures to date, projected expenditures, and projected ending balances for approximately 120 sponsored, grant funded, and unfunded clinical trials.
- Manages multiple subaward Agreements including requests to OPAM to create the Agreements, receipt and approval of invoices, and tracking subaward payments as necessary.
- Reviews all expenditures and FTE for award Principal Investigators and Key Personnel to ensure compliance with award and proposal requirements, as well as Departmental, University, and Federal policies. Reviews and approves requisitions for grant-related expenditures.
- Prepares summary reports of all project data, presents data to the Institute Director, Institute Administrator, and senior level Principal Investigators monthly for review.
- Identifies and resolves problems, assures appropriate and timely correction of expenses that posted incorrectly.
- Supports pre-award process including working with the clinical trials manager to develop study budgets, support account set-up and allocation of funding for project support.
- Works closely with grants and contracts team on grant funded clinical trials to ensure grants reflect correct clinical trials support prior to submission.
- Utilization of eCRIS and the eIRB to support on-going sponsored projects including, but not limited to:
- Collaboration with the Clinical Research Billing Office to address subject injury billing, billing compliance errors, and other subject related payment issues.
- Collaboration with hospital purchasing team surrounding costs associated with device clinical trials and development of hospital purchasing agreement. CMS approval support.
- Using Oracle, completes all Labor Distribution changes for all DEPARTMENT faculty, staff and students; completes LCTAs as required. Provides labor schedules as needed for Other Support pages.
- Manages semi-annual Effort Reporting
- Other KCVI Financial duties, as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university. AND
- Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience
- If from a related field, candidate must have 18 hours of accounting courses from an accredited college or university.
- Intermediate spreadsheet skills, including complex functions, formulas, and formatting.
- Experience with relational databases. Understanding of financial reporting concepts such as cost accounting and net present value analysis.
- Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with internal and external
customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature
