Job Overview
The Leather Research Laboratory is the only such facility in the United States focused on leather research & education. We have been part of the University since 1924. We are currently seeking to fill a Financial Administrator 1 position. This position will assist in the administration and operational activities of substantial variety and complexity for the American Leather Chemists Association and the Leather Research Laboratory. This has the potential to be a hybrid (in office/remote work) position. There is about 10% national and international travel involved.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate and monitor administrative duties and activities at the Annual Convention, organize meetings, and coordinate annual awards.
- Assist in the development of unit policies and procedures, and the Leather Research Laboratory with outreach and marketing efforts and representing the laboratory at relevant industry events.
- Assist with digitizing leather science related documents to create a searchable database.
- Monitor the financial status of unit programs and other budget allocations and maintain the financial books including invoicing, payments, subscriptions, and cash reserves.
- Maintain membership database, directory, electronic journal list, and journal mailing list. Also obtain advertising contracts for Journal.
- Implement policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Prepare reports.
- May coordinate personnel function for an operating unit at less than 25% of duties.

Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree must be in accounting or related field.
- Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Related finance or accounting experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Familiarity with the leather industry and/or experience working with volunteers.

- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
