JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Eberly College of Science Biology Department at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Financial Assistant 3 position . The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and an effective communicator to support the unit by following up on outstanding tasks, maintaining deadlines, and prioritizing assignments.

Knowledge of Penn State's policies and procedures is beneficial, as well as a proficient knowledge of computer-based programs/resources such as SIMBA ( System for Integrated Management, Budgeting, and Accounting) , SAP Concur, Anthony Travel, Microsoft 365, and Adobe is needed to complete tasks such as:

  • Procure, change, and reconcile purchase cards and reports

  • Review and process travel reports (domestic and international) in SAP

  • Complete reimbursement reductions and book fleet reservations

  • Assist with the procurement of goods and services via ShopOnlion, FreeText carts, and non-purchase order invoices

  • Complete journal entries and check/cash deposits

  • Review and approve reports to ensure proper documentation/approvals are complete

This position typically requires a High School diploma and 3 or more years of experience, o r an equivalent combination of education and experience . The ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is essential.

After a successful training period, this position will operate on a hybrid remote/onsite schedule.
