Pinehurst Medical Clinic is seeking a Financial Counselor to join our central billing office, in Pinehurst, NC This position plays a key role in patient care working with our providers in providing the best in patient care by ensuring the facility will be reimbursed for the procedures performed by verifying eligibility and benefits, calculating self-pay costs, obtaining benefits for procedures scheduled against insurance contracts and approved ASC procedure listings. This is a full-time day shift position and does not require weekend or holiday hours.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Calls the patient's Insurance to obtain insurance benefits
• Makes arrangements with the patient to pay co-pay & deductibles owed for procedures
• Obtains financial agreements from patients
• Documents in patient account to what arrangements have been made.
• Documents in patient account to what benefits were obtained for each patient.
• Speaks with patients regarding old accounts and makes arrangements for them to pay.
• Answers phone lines and handles calls appropriately
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education (Including Licenses and Certifications):

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

• One to two years of experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
• Medical insurance background preferred.
• CPT and ICD-10 coding experience highly desirable
