Position Summary
The Financial Services Representative identifies revises and processes unpaid accounts by contacting patients and/or third-party reimburses. Assigns and follows up on uncollectible accounts placed with collection agencies, attorneys, or those placed in collections in-house.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Identifies delinquent patient accounts via reports generated by PMC, aging periods, and payment sources while reviewing each account and reviews and maintains reports from other information sources such as credit bureaus.
- Performs collection activities, evaluating the patient's financial status, including contacting patients/carriers by telephone and resubmitting claims to third-party reimburses and sends information to insurance specialists.
- Establishes budget payment plans per collection procedures and does follow-up work on such accounts.
- Reviews accounts for possible assignment to collection agencies, making recommendations and preparing information for said collection agencies.
- Follows collection procedures as designated by management.
- Mails out past due letters and process statements
- Review accounts for discharge from the practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education (Including Licenses and Certifications): High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: One to two year of experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Medical insurance background preferred. CPT and ICD-10 coding experience is highly desirable
