JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Perform all the duties required in construction and maintenance of the distribution system.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs all line work, both construction and maintenance of energized lines, without special supervision. Understands all circuits used on the system and safety requirements. Adjusts regulators and other standard apparatus. Reads and interprets maps specifications, staking sheets and complex diagrams. Inspects completed work to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Recommends and/or completes corrections as needed.
- Studies and keeps informed of materials, tools, and equipment and procedures in line construction and maintenance pertinent to Cooperative and Department's policies and programs, and RUS specifications and safety codes.
- Observes system for any hazardous conditions that might cause a power failure, corrects or reports such conditions to Supervisor.
- Makes transformer and meter removal and installation records. Completes outage reports, material tickets, connect and disconnect orders as required. Maintains and turns in other records as required.

Work Environment
The employee will be working during inclement/extreme weather conditions – heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, high winds, day and night. The employee will be exposed to energized electrical lines and operate heavy equipment and exposed to loud noise.
Physical Demands
The employee will be required to walk or stand, use hands, fingers to handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Travel
Periodic travel to state and local destinations, as well as some interstate travel is required.
Required Education and Experience
- Certification of completing an accredited lineperson training program.
- A minimum of four years' experience as a Lineperson with progressively increasing responsibilities.
- Two-year technical degree with required specialized training (live-line school, underground and overhead school).
- Knowledge of RUS construction specifications.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- First Aid and CPR Certified.
- Climber qualified and bucket rescue.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
