Summary:
This position will be responsible for formulating nutrient premixes, based on customers’ or Account Managers’ requests, in compliance with relevant regulations, finished goods applications, shelf-life requirements, processing conditions and nutrient stabilities. The position may require creating representative laboratory samples and pilot batches, ingredient evaluations, fielding internal and external technical questions regarding Glanbia product blends and participating in commercialization processes for raw materials and new blend orders. The position may be assigned to, and require participation in, various R&D projects as needed. The position requires mastery of PDM formulation software as well as SAP and C4C software programs as they relate to R&D functions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Develop formulas for quotation based on customers’ requirements, using specialized formulation software
Communicate effectively with customers’ technical personnel and Glanbia Sales personnel
Ensure formula and ingredient compliance to customers’ specifications
Participate in R&D projects, as required
Assist in blend sample formulation and preparation, as required
Research application of nutrient ingredients, as necessary
Understand and support the research and development of new ingredients, applications, blends, processes, and finished products
Research, evaluate, and approve raw materials for use in manufactured products as required
Troubleshoot, resolve and answer technical inquiries regarding ingredients and manufactured products as required
Assist and communicate with other internal departments as required
Other R & D responsibilities as required
Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
Domestic Travel ~5%

Skills and Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Food/Nutrition, Chemistry or Agricultural/Chemical Engineering
2 years’ experience in the nutritional, food, beverage, supplement or related industries
Understanding of compliance basics of cGMP, FSMA, GRAS, 21 CFR Food & Drug and HAACP regulations
Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) to include speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
Ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel
Self-motivated individual with high attention to detail, creative passion and curious nature
Optimum presentation skills
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to design and execute experimental studies
Must be able to effectively use team-based problem-solving skills
Results focused and oriented toward accomplishment of team and organizational goals
Ability to handle multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities
Must be able to work flexible hours

Other Qualifications:
Fluency in written and spoken English required
Written and/or spoken fluency in Spanish is a plus
Ability to effectively learn and master PDM, SAP and C4C software
Business proficiency in use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs
Knowledge or prior use of web-based sharing programs such as SharePoint

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials
Involves moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature
Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus

Compensation for roles at Glanbia varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience. Glanbia provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in CA. This range may not be applicable to other locations. The annual salary for CA based employees for this role is $65,000 to $109,000.
