This position is a Hybrid role out of Buffalo, NY OR Millsboro, DE.
OVERVIEW:
Under the guidance of the Financial Crimes Manager, lead a team tasked with identifying fraud risks and analyzing operational and technical support in mitigating risks in accordance with post-investigations risk management. Guides a team to prepare and process complex customer exits in conjunction with designated business partners and conduct scheduled reviews of processes and workflows. Works with Investigators, business partners and Compliance to ensure all customers identified posing a risk to the Bank are processed for exit by conducting audits.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor work volume and adjust team workflow as needed. Maintain case review documents, including daily case input and monthly exit reporting. Review internal processes and determine improvements.
- Prepare and modify Exits process procedures, and all training documents. Interact with Business Partners or departments regarding complex internal and external exits.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of exits cases to ensure all exits are completed or being tracked for future completion.
- Assist with employee performance efforts
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with maintaining customer relationships throughout the Bank to ensure additional risky customer behavior is minimized.
- Prepare and process complex customer exits. Work with the Exits team to process and track customers exited as the result of risky banking behavior or fraudulent activity.
- Implement internal policies and control procedures with a thorough knowledge and understanding of guidance, laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of responsibilities:
The position works under general supervision of management but is required to exercise independent judgment and discretion on exit decisions related to fraud concerns outlined by investigators. The position has contact within the Bank and its subsidiaries, including members of the risk organizations, AML/BSA and Banking Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelors’ degree and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in audit, risk management, compliance or investigative service, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ experience in audit, risk management, compliance or investigative service
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent spreadsheet, word processing and database software
Strong verbal and written communication skills
