Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County have been changing children’s lives for over 65 years! We have opportunities to mentor youth by assisting with program activities and creating on-going relationships. These roles focus on Sports and Fitness, Organized Free-Time Activities, The Arts, and Education. Openings are at our Clubs in Goshen, Elkhart, Nappanee, Middlebury, and various KidsCare Sites throughout Elkhart County.
- Part-Time Hours
- Regular hours Monday through Friday
- Opportunity for up to a 3% performance-based rate increase at 90 Days

POSITION DETAILS
Hours: 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm (hours may vary over summer session and school closures)
JOB SUMMARY:
Greet members in a friendly, welcoming manner while ensuring all members check in. Greet all parents and visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner. Provide programming and youth development support to site staff and clerical support for grant programming at the site.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Reliable transportation, safe driving record, driver license, and automobile insurance required
- Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-20 pounds
- Pre-employment drug screening, background, reference and driver’s record checks are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the health and safety of all children in assigned area by assuring that members understand and follow the behavioral expectations, that the area is well lit, ventilated and clean, that the area is kept free from hazards, that equipment is in good condition, that strangers are greeted at the entrance to the area and that there is an understanding of and readiness to implement emergency procedures.
- Ensure that members’ self-esteem is maintained or enhanced by use of the Youth Development Strategy. This is accomplished by, among other things, smiling, calling members by their names and greeting them warmly.
- Ensure the safety of the Club by keeping non-member and suspended children and unknown or barred visitors & adults from passing the front counter into the Club without proper escort. This is also to be accomplished in a friendly but firm manner.
- Handle members’ belongings and Club funds per procedures.
- Answer telephones in a warm, professional manner. Take messages as instructed, assist members with use of phones per procedure.
- Provide a culture where members respect and seek advice from staff regarding problems in or outside of the Club.
- Create an on-going message in all interactions that members need to make appropriate choices about their educational, personal, physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
- Assure that members are held accountable for their behavior.
- Continually model and teach character, morals and ethics.
- Act as an advocate of our members and the Club, both inside and outside the Club.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as filling out reports, forms, etc. as assigned.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
