Who: G. Eric Nielson & Associates is a boutique law firm located in Salt Lake City, UT.

Wanted: Litigation Associate with 2-5 years’ experience (preferred). Full-time. Complex civil litigation experience a plus.

What is unique about our firm?

The lawyers who work here are friends. We collaborate. We don’t compete with each other. We are determined to do one thing: Get the best possible results for the relatively few clients we choose to represent every year.

We only accept 12 to 18 new clients per year. High-value cases with catastrophic losses.

The four senior attorneys who work here have a combined total of 16 children. This is a family-oriented law firm.

We are in serious need of a talented young associate. As an associate, you will be mentored, guided, and rewarded. If you work well, you will be given an equity position in one of the best small firms in the state of Utah.

The atmosphere here is informal and positive. Unless we are in trial or preparing for trial, we come to work at 8:30 in the morning and go home at 6 PM. We don’t work weekends as a rule.

Two of the lawyers at this firm are in their early 60s. We don’t plan on practicing law forever. We want an associate we can trust. We want an associate who can help run the firm in a few years.

Here are 9 fun facts about the firm:

• We dedicate three days every year to “nautical metaphor day.” Any briefs or pleadings we file during those three days must contain at least one nautical metaphor.
• Every time we settle a case or win a major motion, the entire firm gets together for a happy dance. Everyone must dance for at least 30 seconds. No filming is allowed.
• We have an annual firm hike.
• It is understood that the senior managing partner of the firm will force everyone in the firm to look at pictures of his grandchildren at least once a month.
• End of year bonuses tend to be extraordinarily generous.
• Select members of the firm (people who can actually sing) go Christmas caroling at nursing homes during the first week of December.
• The firm buys Christmas presents for two to three families a year (typically clients but not always). We have been doing these sub for Santa projects for over 20 years.
• Everyone gets a special treat on his or her birthday.
• We buy you lunch every day.
