MEDICAL SECRETARY, DERMATOLOGY:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
FULL OR PART TIME
Looking for talented energetic Medical Receptionist for a busy and growing dermatology practice. The Medical Secretary/Receptionist is responsible for greeting, instructing, directing, and scheduling patients, visitors, and vendors. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff.
- Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates courteous professional and cooperative behavior toward patients, visitors, coworkers and providers.
- Performs duties as a team member, integrating activities with those of fellow employees and providers.
- Has a positive attitude and will provide outstanding patient care as a medical secretary.
- Courteously answers the telephone and screens calls appropriately. Refers callers to appropriate person or area when necessary. Troubleshoots any issues that arise and follows through with caller.
- Schedules new patient appointments and checks for referrals.
- Schedules follow-up appointments, skin exams, and procedures as well as collects balances.
- Collects consents, copayments, and outstanding balances and verifies all demographic and insurance information.
- Scans documents into our electronic health record and is proficient in EPIC
- Maintains HIPAA (patient confidentiality).
- Takes initiative to help out where needed
- Performs all other duties assigned by the Practice Manager and must be willing to take on additional responsibilities and provide assistance in all areas needed.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Understanding of procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing, and faxing
Demonstrates professionalism and a positive attitude
Excellent written and inter-personal communication skills
Ability to interpret information as appropriate, answer routine questions in the most professional manner, and communicate in a professional, courteous, clear, and concise manner
Ability to prioritize, including knowing when a patient issue is urgent versus routine
Must be kind, respectful and empathetic with patients, giving attention to patients' needs and concerns under all circumstances
Ability to correspond and communicate with others clearly and effectively in writing (via e-mail, memo, or EPIC in-basket) and to take complete and accurate messages
Must be a team player
Considered a Plus if you have either:
1 year experience with patient billing OR
1 year experience with medical aesthetics
