Job description
The City of Blair is accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer, entry-level or lateral position. For lateral officers, there is a hiring bonus which includes, $3,000 sign-on bonus, 40 hours of leave immediately upon hire and officers will ear vacation time commensurate with years of service. The current salary range is $57,012.80 - $73,028.80, 12 hour shifts and generous benefits package included. Police Officers patrol the City of Blair, enforces local state and federal laws, and provides community service and protection.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Enforces traffic laws. Handles violations including speeding, traffic signal & sign violations, driving complaints, parking violations, D.U.I. arrests, etc.
2. Responds to radio and telephone dispatch calls including alarm calls, traffic accidents, suspicious activity, and domestic violence. Takes necessary action including, inspection of property for damage or break-in evidence, traffic control, dispute mediation and resolution, violation ticketing, and arrest.
3. Inspects local business and residential buildings for signs of burglary including open doors, suspicious noises, etc.
4. Writes reports on all actionable activities investigations.
5. Investigates criminal activities providing preliminary information and assistance as necessary for ongoing investigations for both adults and juveniles.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned by command. *
7. Trains and recruits officers for the field.*
8. Drug enforcement and recognition activities.*
9. Provides security for community events.*
