Job Description Summary
This position will be responsible for the overall EHS management of the Houston Learning Center ( HLC ) with the main focus on the development and implementation of the Gas Power Training center EHS blueprint that will be fully aligned with the Gas Power EHS Blueprint and KPI’s . This role will also provide management oversight to the Gas Power Learning centers in Kuwait and Birr Switzerland . The HLC role includes but not limited to the maintenance of facility Safety Management systems along with strategic and tactical EHS support to the teaching staff who are delivering formal classroom and practical training at HLCJob Description
Management systems – EHS lead shall ensure
- They support and influence the HLC EHS compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory, contractual and company requirements
- Conduct Follow ups on agreed action plans that improve EHS Performance and reduce likelihood and severity of EHS events – This includes Kuwait/ Bir facilities
- Site Security arrangements are in place to reduce likelihood of breaches
- They partner with all Gas Power Training customers
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and coach the Gas Power EHS training Teams in all aspects of EHS
- Lead the overall implementation of the HLC safety plans and associated COVID 19 plans
- Review and monitor the effective management of all High-Risk Activities
- Develop manage and deliver EHS onboarding process for new staff & visitors
- Ensure all training classes are carried out in a safe and effective manner
- Manage Gas Power EHS training center EHS Metrics and reporting systems – including: Global Training center EHS Bowlers / KPI’s – GE Gensuite- GE Learning, Comply Works, Framework 2.0
- Maintain and assign EHS Training to all HLC Training staff & employees & monitor EHS training completion across all Gas Power ESH training centers
- Mentor & coach FC SSP Level 1 Professionals during their rotations at HLC
- Competent / familiar in GE Waste management processes across the 3 Gas Ppower Training Centers
- Be Aware of and fully committed in conducting their work duties in full compliance to the GE Leadership behaviors
- Ensure effective implementation of GE standards and procedures across HLC including the effectiveness of EHS related processes owned by others
- Participate and manage the EHS compliance and program audits of Gas Power Learning centers
- Ensure appropriate actions are communicated and taken in the event of non-compliance to all GE Learning centers
- Prepare periodic EHS reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with the organization’s requirements and communicate it to relevant distribution list.
- Manage the effective use of Gas Power Learning centers CC Task programs
- Support all learning centers MOC process related to the installation of machinery and equipment
- Support Learning centre teams in the implementation of Risk assessment development and monitor / measure effectiveness of agreed control measures
- Manage and monitor PPE provided to students and staff are being maintained to the required standards – via regular inspections
- Support the HLC facility manager in the maintenance of HLC ERPs-Security programs and site access control procedures this includes supporting COVID 19 response plans
- Responsible for implementing the Gas Power Learning centers communication plans related to specific EHS topics to include but not limited to: Safety Alerts, Standard reminders, Event Learnings, Awareness campaigns, Business updates)
- Ensure that all HLC Accidents/Incidents are recorded, investigated, and analyzed to prevent reoccurrence
Qualification/Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in Site EHS at managerial capacity working within Power Generation, Oil & gas or other heavy Industry
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of additional experience in EHS)).
- Experience working with global teams
Eligibility Requirements
- Provide management oversight along with support and influence of other Gas Power Learning sites remotely from Houston
- Physically fit as walking will consist a major part of your day ( 6+ hours per day to be present in all training classes throughout the facility )
- Position is 100% onsite at the Houston (Wall) TX location
- Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without current or future sponsorship

- Safety local registration is highly preferred, OSHA regulatory familiarization and knowledge/qualification. experience
- Proven ability to work in a matrix environment, influence and motivate diverse & remote teams to achieve a unified goal
- RCRA Certified (for Haz. waste management)
- DOT Certified (also for Haz. Waste management)
- Comply Works experience
- Scaffolding, Competent person
- LOTO, Competent person (for LOTO hands on certification/re-certification of students)
- Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong initiative
- Ability to work well in a team-based environment.
- Risk & Emergency situations management
- Ability to make decisions in a fast pace and sense of urgency
