Job Description Summary

This role leads the engine development test activity of a test engine for the GE9X engine program. Lead the development of the engine test plan, define instrumentation requirements, and facilitate the technical assessment of component mission capability. The GE9X engine is the world’s largest turbofan engine that powers the next-generation Boeing 777X wide-body passenger jet. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans that satisfy the validation/certification requirements of the product.
• Interact with certification authorities to ensure product qualifications are meet and certified.
• Responsible for an test engine as part of the qualification process, developing the engine test mission purpose and requirements, ensuring all necessary hardware required for successful test mission completion is installed, and resolving any engine-level issues during pre-test build and test execution.
• Collaboration with the Test Systems Engineering organization to execute the test mission.
• Interaction and communication with the airframer customer to coordinate necessary actions.
• Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
• Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
• Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical design or aerothermal sciences) from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position.
• Required to be on site and work from the West Chester location on a regular basis

Desired Characteristics

• Experience in aviation engine qualification and certification is advantageous

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to turbomachinery design, testing, or systems engineering
