Abiomed is looking to add a strong senior leader as a General Manager, Cardiology. The leader in this strategic role will be responsible for driving the platform growth through innovation, product development, excellence in product launches, and clinical/scientific evidence generation. We are looking for an exceptional and highly engaged leader, able to translates strategy to concrete actions and delivers on complex programs.
The General Manager, Cardiology will have oversight and ownership over the entire product life cycle, including positioning, patient and revenue growth, product innovation & development, manufacturing, clinical development, regulatory and distribution strategies. The General Manager, Cardiology will be a key member of the Innovation and Growth Councils in Abiomed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute on Abiomed’s long-term growth plan in the Interventional Cardiology domain, focusing on the Impella CP w/ SmartAssist, Access & Closure, and the novel Impella ECP – once approved
- Position Abiomed’s Cardiology products as a ubiquitous platform in Interventional Cardiology
- Drive patient and revenue growth through product innovation, launches, clinical development and geographical expansion
- Build a world-class team to execute on business objectives; lead and provide strategic direction in a highly matrixed organization to cross functional, global teams
- Oversee product launches within the Cardiology platform, including field team training, collecting user feedback, pricing, regulatory plans and geographical expansions
- Work with, develop and recruit KOLs to generate and refine the product pipeline, support therapy development and clinical evidence generation;
- Build & enhance the relationships with key clinical and scientific societies
- Serve as a subject matter expert for internal and external audiences; develop, mentor and coach cross-functional team members
- Retains, develops and attracts the top talents in the field
- Oversee and manage the platform budget planning and tracking
- Build the market and user needs through active exploration, focus groups, observations, surveys etc. to enable product road map development and refinement
- Conduct competitive analyses, gather market intelligence and develop responsive positioning
- Oversee the development and delivery of training programs for Abiomed’s field teams
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree requires, advanced scientific/business/engineering degree highly preferred
- 7+ years of industry experience in a senior leadership role, within the cardiovascular space, with proven success and measurable results
- Comfortable and proven success working in matrix organizations, where not all functions report to her/him directly
- Exceptional people management skills, high Emotional Intelligence, including demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop top talent of diverse backgrounds, cultures and professional experiences
- Exceptional presentation and customer relations skills, an educator - able to explain complex concepts in a simple and comprehensive level
- The ability to set goals and provide constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships with and within the team
- Experience in strategic market analysis and business development in the MedTech space
- Proven track record of recruiting and developing top talent, building high-performing teams; Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal that are tailored to and can resonate with diverse audiences
- Willingness to travel ~40%, including international
