General Manager
The Role…
The General Manager will ensure that Ned's Club Washington DC provides a warm, safe, inclusive and upscale environment for all members, guests and employees at all times. The General Manager is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day operations, financial performance and members satisfaction. This role requires highly developed leadership competencies to ensure the highest levels of stakeholder engagement and ownership representation.
Main Duties
- Oversee the management of the Food & Beverage operations across all restaurants, bars and event space
- Develop an efficient back of the house operation taking into account, logistics, H&S and employee welfare
- Work closely with the Executive chef on all aspects of the culinary offering
- Take personal responsibility for curating and monitoring the club ambience with particular emphasis on delivering an appropriate entertainment / live music program
- Handle any member or client complaint that requires escalation and resolution by senior management in a timely manner
- Ensure that members and guests adhere to the Club Rules and take swift, corrective action when necessary
- Ensure appropriate grooming and uniform standards are maintained across all departments
- Ensure that robust processes, systems and controls are cultural amongst senior managers
- Deliver a benchmarked level of employee productivity whilst at the same time ensuring uncompromising hospitality standards across all areas the club
- Show a sound understanding of the external marketplace, keeping abreast of industry trends and city developments
- Review the weekly revenue forecast and scheduling requirements, ensuring the right amount of resource is in the right place, at the right time
- Play an active role in developing strategic business plans that support the delivery of the Budget and Balanced Scorecard
- Produce a monthly P&L critique with explanations for variances and be able to articulate a narrative for inclusion in monthly ownership reports
- Implement operational strategies that are innovative and drive profitability
- Oversee and sign off on the monthly member events calendar
- Co-chair quarterly committee meetings alongside the senior membership team
- Understand and align with Communication teams on local PR, Social Media and Marketing strategy
- Support the membership acquisition strategy, ensuring intake targets are achieved
- Work closely with Partnerships to leverage suitable sponsorship opportunities with brand partners
- Be a highly visible leader across all areas of business, providing hands-on support as required
- Ensure all product / services delivered to members and clients are in line with the prescribed specification
- Create a member centric culture that creates value and builds loyalty
- Ensure that company policies and standards are maintained by everyone working at the site
- Promote a service driven culture that reflects The Ned and Ned's Club values, encouraging positive interactions, team collaboration and results driven performance
Required Skills/Qualifications
- Proven track record as a General Manager in an upscale hospitality environment
- Energetic and dynamic leader who can influence at a senior level and engage a team with a customer centric service ethic
- Team player that understands the importance building close professional relationship and demonstrates a high degree of emotional intelligence
- Well developed, logical thinker with the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly
- Strong financial and business acumen
- Excellent written English and verbal communication skills
- The ability to plan and prioritise time
- Self-motivated and a completer/finisher
- Understands that unsociable hours, including working weekends and public holidays, is expected
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
- Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
- Fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the club to others.
- Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work in front of a computer screen for up to 5 hours per day.
- Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.
