The incoming General Manager will lead manufacturing engineering activities, tooling, and equipment/stamping maintenance in the production of products used in the automotive industry. Drive long-term continuous improvement initiative, scrap reduction, cost savings, and process improvement projects.

  Oversee activities of Production Engineering, Equipment/Stamping Maintenance, and Tooling
• Develop long-term goals and strategies to meet business objections for Hoshin
• Execute decisions based on business conditions in congruence with corporate vision
• Gather and analyze information from work sites to identify root causes in resolving business issues
• Process equipment evaluation, specifications, procurement, and implementation
• Oversee a variety of automated equipment designs and processes, such as projection, MIG, vibration, sonic, and plasma
• Implement and drive process improvement related to equipment and automation control machinery to improve efficiencies
• Calculate and analyze lead, takt, and cycle times to design and implement reduction plans
• Ensures that approved production methods and quality standards are followed, as well as machine performance and safety
• Drives Total Preventive Maintenance program to ensure that manufacturing equipment is properly maintained, and downtime is minimized
• Assist with training and coaching of maintenance, engineering, and production personnel
• Coordinate with production personnel, vendors, and external contractors to implement kaizens
• Investigate and resolve machinery, quality, and efficiency issues
• Responsible for initiating, designing, validating, and implementing improvements
• Must be able to provide technical guidance to diagnose and repair equipment mechanical issues
• Monitor results and processes to proactively maximize production and eliminate waste
• Prepare departmental reports and present them to executive management
• Complete necessary documentation, such as status changes, time-off requests, and performance evaluations
• Demonstrates extensive experience with application of problem-solving techniques, DOEs, and Lean Manufacturing tools
• Direct and assign work schedules, assignments, tasks, and duties
• Train and develop employees to perform job duties according to company procedures and policies for safety and accuracy

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading a Production Engineering and Support Group organization
• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong computer skills including MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly at all levels, internally and externally
• Strong people skills with the ability to communicate and interface positively and influence other team members and departments
• Excellent project management skills: familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Manufacturing Execution System (MES) experience is preferred
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills
