Job description
Geospatial Hybrid Technicians are responsible for processing geospatial data and periodically deploying to operate and drive the companys data collection vehicles for the Crossroads Department. This position requires short one to four week deployments in the field at a short notice as to keep our collection vehicles operating when unexpected staffing issues arise. This employee is expected to become fluent in both data reduction and data collection and to keep up with procedure updates in both areas. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Data Processing (70%)
- Process geospatial project data according to established procedures and guidelines
- Consistently meet performance metrics established by the project manager
- Inform the team leader when issues are identified
- Accurately track and record daily activities for work completed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Data Collection (30%)
- Deploy in company collection vehicles on short notice for deployments ranging from one to four weeks
- Participate in an initial month-long deployment for training on collection systems
- Operate mobile data collection vehicles in a responsible manner consistent with training and local laws and regulations
- Operate data collection systems within the vehicle to ensure good and accurate data collection of roadways and their features
- Assist in route planning through the use of maps and other navigational tools
- Provide basic maintenance and upkeep of the vehicle in a manner consistent with company policy throughout the duration of deployment
- Work with Crossroads representatives to efficiently troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise in the field
- Maintain and organize a daily, legible logbook of data collected and submit to Geospatial Specialist as required
- Accurately record all relevant project metrics and expenditures while deployed in the field
- Maintain regular contact with supervisor and project team to keep them informed of project status, issues, or significant field events
Required
- Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software
- Ability to read and comprehend technical and regulatory documentation
- Must have the ability to compute basic arithmetic, as well as create and interpret graphs
- Must be able to apply basic statistics, algebra, and geometry concepts
Preferred
- Familiarity with navigating public transportation systems and making travel arrangements
- Working knowledge of 2D and 3D spatial datasets and software
Education/Experience
A Bachelors degree is required. Previous coursework in geography, GIS, geosciences or STEM is preferred.
Certifications and Licenses
A valid U.S. drivers license with a clean driving record is required.
Other Requirements
Applicant must be able to deploy rapidly with short notice. No amount of travel is guaranteed; travel up to 30% may be required.
