Job description

We are looking for a Grinder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in grinding and polishing metal parts to exact specifications, using a variety of hand tools and machines. The successful candidate will be able to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and efficiently are essential skills for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Positions workpiece manually or by using jib of crane.
• Inserts selected grinding wheel or cutting chisel into portable grinder or power hammer.
• Positions and manually guides tool along specified guidelines on edge or surface of workpiece.
• Grinds small parts on snag grinder.
• Removes sharp edges or burrs.
• Chips or grinds out pits or cracks.
• Sharpens chisels and dresses grinding wheels.
• Sorts castings by material onto heat-treat pallets or into crates, depending on heat-treat process.
• Operates electric hoist and forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• Inspects castings for defects and decides if defect will be ground out, welded, or scrapped.
• Applies die penetrate to casting to inspect parts for cracks.
• Performs all work in a safety conscious manner. Be aware of dangers and take all appropriate counter measures to protect yourself and others around you.
• Wears all PPE that is required. Ear plugs, respirator and steel toe boots.
• Responsible to maintain a clean and safe work area consistent with the Company’s housekeeping policies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.50 per hour

• 10 hour shift
• Overtime
