Job description
The Grounds position consists of maintaining the aesthetic standards set forth by Elmira College inside and outside. This position will be responsible for activities such as mowing and trimming, mulching, and other outdoor landscaping activities. This position will include snow and ice removal throughout the winter months. Other than the normal day to day activities performed, grounds also does garbage pick up and disposal on campus and helps with set-ups and moves campus wide.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Landscaping knowledge/experience preferred
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history per College Liability/Auto Insurance Underwriter
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds with or without an accommodation
Working Conditions
As a Grounds Worker 75% of the work is completed outside in all weather conditions, the other 25% will be completed indoors performing moves and setups along with general maintenance of equipment and cleanliness of shop areas. Grounds work with chemicals and other hazardous material (gas, diesel, and propane) may be in contact with soiled items, body fluids, airborne particles, fumes and dust. Noise level is typically moderate to high and ear protection is recommended and provided by employer.
Work Location: On-site, Elmira College Campus (NOT Remote)
