Reporting to Care Group CEO and Board of Directors, the Group Director of Operations is responsible for the overall operational management of the Group in line with regulations and budget plans (8 nursing homes).

As registered provider the Group Director of Operations has overall responsibility for ensuring that all aspects of care and service delivery meet the legislative requirements as determined by the Health Act 2007 & 2009 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People) Regulations as well as the specific requirements detailed in the National Standards for the Care of Older People in Residential Care, HIQA (2008). The Group Director of Operations is supported in their role by the senior management team of the group.

Along with the HIQA obligations the Group Director of Operations is responsible for managing and coordinating support services in the nursing home, with a strong focus on ensuring excellent customer service to residents, their families and service users. The role is responsible for enhancing the hospitality, safety, and quality standards at each home. The role holder will also ensure that each Nursing Home is financially performing in line with agreed budgets and bring to the Boards attention in a timely manner any operational challenges of note that may affect performance. The role holder will keep up to date with market trends to plan future projects and monitor the daily operations of each Nursing Home.

The Directors of Nursing and management teams in each Nursing Home report to the the Group Director of Operations.

  • Contribute to and execution of the annual business plan.
  • Work with the Directors of Nursing to build a strong team and environment in the home.
  • Liaise with Group HR to ensure that practices within these functions comply with all current employment legislation.
  • Liaise with Group HR on staffing matters in each nursing home; recruitment, retention and promotions.
  • Liaise with Group Quality & Risk Manager to ensure that practices within these functions comply with all current legislation
  • Conduct regular communication and planning meetings with staff reporting to this position.
  • Monitor all complaints and inspections to identify and implement improvements.
  • Work with the Director of Nursing to ensure resident's quality of life is enhanced by providing a homely and comfortable environment.
  • Management of support services of the Nursing Home to include Administration, Catering, Cleaning, Laundry, and Maintenance. This position is responsible for ensuring that the home maintains a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, catering, and physical appearance.
  • Organisation and oversight of the daily operations of the nursing home. Coordinating and supervising support staff members and leading them by example to ensure the highest quality services.
  • Management of budgets and expenditure.
  • Ensure timely and accurate information is provided concerning the day-to-day running of the Nursing Home.
  • Ensure that fee arrears are always dealt with immediately and minimised.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of the service provided by conducting audits and meeting Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensuring that the environment and facilities in the home are maintained to a high standard of comfort for the residents and providing a welcoming atmosphere for visitors to the home.
  • Work with other senior management colleagues to implement strategic initiatives to develop our people.

Requirements

  • Experience of leading high performing teams and ability to build trust, influence and motivate others.
  • Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Irish nursing home sector is desirable, but not essential.
  • A well-rounded leadership and management background with demonstrable project management experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of financial and commercial management including negotiating.
  • Demonstrable experience of liaising with regulators
  • Degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong internal and external communication skills.
