Group Exercise Coordinator
Job description
General Function:
Under of the Health Living Director, the Group Exercise Coordinator will be responsible for the safety and coordination of all land, cycle and water group exercise classes, instructors and class scheduling to ensure quality health promotion and service for our members. In addition, the Group Exercise Coordinator will implement Character Development as a key goal to our mission and will personally exhibit a commitment to excellence.
Principal Activities:
- Assist in the development, planning, organizing and of health-related events
- New member engagement/orientation
- Schedule and conduct healthy living consultations with members
- Develop working relationship with collaborate when applicable.
- Enforce and follow established policies and procedures and execute sound judgment.
- Assist in designing special department(s) programs, activities and events to promote member and community involvement.
- Continue personal development & education.
- Recruit volunteers for programming and events
- Open communication with all subordinate, professional and front desk staff
- Active participation as a member of all branch affiliated fund raising efforts, including but not limited to the Annual Campaign.
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Provide instructions for member use of equipment and sub group ex classes.
- Responsible for monitoring execution of member exercises for safety and effectiveness.
- Responsible for communicating with Matrix Fit users as needed
- Other duties & activities as assigned by supervisor
- Assist Healthy Living Director when applicable regarding any wellness programs
- Assist with monthly schedule
- Ability to sub any Group exercise classes as needed.
- Provide Instructor Training and development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date instructor certification records.
Know-How:
- Minimum of High School diploma/Bachelor’s degree in community health preferred
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
- Ability to connect with others and forge strong relationships
- Committed to the mission of serving all
- Highly organized and analytical
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to support, network and motivate staff, volunteers and clientele
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of exercise equipment
- Must be CPR/AED certified
- Basic knowledge of applicable software applications.
- Must be attentive to details, be able to work with and meet deadlines, take initiative to develop and provide information and controls necessary for efficient office operations.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to take initiative in making decisions and solving problems in the areas of assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner.
- Ability to work efficiently independently and as part of a team.
- Display a personal commitment to consistent quality customer service.
Physical Requirements:
- Sight, Hearing and Speaking.
- Standing, Walking, Stooping, Kneeling, Squatting, Climbing, Sitting.
- Lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Pulling a minimum of 100 lbs.
- Valid SC Driver’s License.
Salary: $12/hour
Schedule: Varies based on need, week days, 10 – 15 hours per week
