As Group Fleet Manager you will be responsible for managing the entire company fleet, +120 vehicles including all vans, cars, plant, equipment and machinery. Liaising with leasing / hire companies, this individual will ensure that the fleet is fully compliant and safe as a number one priority. The individual will also have sole responsibility in ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum where maintenance or repair is required. KPI’s and live reports will be presented daily, weekly, monthly and continuous improvement targets will be managed and monitored.

Key Objectives of the Role

1. Provide strategic and operational leadership of MDE’s commercial fleet.

2. Support and co-ordinate the installer by working closely with the Operations and Scheduling Team.

3. Control and reduce operating costs, providing specialist knowledge.

4. Maintain vehicles in a safe and efficient operating condition.

5. Comply with fleet regulations whilst updating policies and processes as required.

6. Improve the operational performance of the fleet, whilst minimising the operative downtime and optimising the local garage network.

7. Lead the procurement of replacement vehicles on a rotational basis to achieve the best operational decision and value for money.

Main responsibilities:

1. Manage MDE’s commercial fleet, booking repairs, servicing requirements, livery, fuel cards and accident management.

2. Lead in the procurement and disposal of all MDE company vehicles.

3. Contract management of our external tracker provider to monitor and improve driver management, sharing this information with the relevant third parties and MDE Management Teams.

4. Maintain records, proving that the fleet is compliant with regulations whilst demonstrating value for money.

5. Manage maintenance schedules to ensure that the optimum number of vehicles are working at all times to meet MDE’s project needs.

6. Budget management of fleet repairs, on costs and administrative costs, recognizing the need of value for money in compliance with Financial Regulations.

7. Maximize fuel economy and manage the fuel card usage.

8. Implement, maintain and develop policies and processes to ensure fleet operates effectively and efficiently, educating staff with the industry’s concepts, practices and procedures.

9. Create a suite of measures to show continuous improvement throughout all areas of MDE Fleet Management.

10. Act in a positive and constructive way to help develop and maintain the MDE brands.

11. Take personal responsibility for own health, safety and welfare and that of colleagues in the workplace.

12. Adhere to IT security and Data Protection Legislation.

13. Understand, embrace and apply the company culture of continuous improvement.

14. Provide advice and guidance to peers and operators on fleet compliance issues.

15. Deliver Fleet Training to new recruits and ensure full understanding of company policies and procedures. Work in partnership with Road Safety Authority to instil safe driving as a core focus across the business. Deliver Professional High Level of Output.

Essential Criteria:

1. Experience of providing strategic and operational leadership of a commercial fleet.

2. Experience of managing a fleet of commercial vehicles of 100 vehicles or more.

3. Create schedule to update vehicle maintenance records and fleet related invoicing, with the experience to challenge invoice queries.

4. Experience of minimising impact on business whilst conducting cyclical and incidental fleet repairs.

5. Excellent knowledge of PSV/Tax/Insurance regulatory requirements.

6. Control and reduce operating costs, providing specialist knowledge relating to VFM.

7. Lead the procurement of replacement vehicles on a rotational basis to achieve the best operational decision and value for money.

8. A strong working knowledge of ROI and UK fleet and transport legislation.

Qualifications:

Educated to Degree level in Supply Chain / Logistics / Fleet

Current clean driving license

Skills and Competencies:

· Continuous improvement methodology.

· Strong IT skills in MS word, excel and experience of using bespoke IT Fleet systems.

· Analytical understanding and the ability to forward plan using and creating data to analyse operational performance and forward plan.

· Proven management experience.

· Proactive, self-motivated and work on own initiative.

· Can do attitude.
