Key Responsibilities
- The Head of Data and BI (Business Intelligence) Reporting is a key senior management position for Chill, reporting to the CIO, with matrix/dotted line reporting responsibilities into other member of the Leadership Team as required (namely CEO and Commercial Director) and will manage and continually develop a multi-discipline team of data analysts, developers, and report builders.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the Data Framework and delivery of Business Intelligence reporting, analysis and insights on both a routine and adhoc basis as required so that the Data Framework
- (1) is effective in both informing and supporting the decision-making process of the business stakeholders including Operational Managers, Heads of Departments, member of the Senior Management and Leadership Teams and Board of Directors
- (2) supports the stakeholders in achieving the operational and commercial objectives - and revised objectives as should be necessary from time to time - to deliver the Business Strategy.
- The scope of this Framework will be all data associated with the Customer journey and Customer lifecycle including but not limited to engagement and communication interactions, operational and commercial transactions, life time monetary value and return on investment, service levels and key performance indicators for all products and service channels, supplier performance where applicable, feedback from satisfaction surveys together with any market and industry data considered necessary to supplement the overall quality of the analysis and insights.
- Ongoing development and maintenance of the Data Framework to ensure it’s capability is consistently effective in terms of performance, scability and efficiency to inform and support both the defiing and tracking of business objectives to deliver the Business strategy.
- Regularly engaging with the various business stakeholders to promote the Data Framework and support them in defining their BI requirements, structured reporting, analysis and insights.
- Continuously looking to identify and assimilate data sources both within and outside the business to maximize the capability of the Data Framework in order to provide the highest standards of Business Intelligence.
- Working closely with the Information Technology and Data Engineering Departments and Teams to design and architect solutions for data sources that warrant systems development to elevate the Business Intelligence capability of the Data Framework.
- Ongoing development and maintenance of the reporting Layer through the use of proprietary reporting suites (Tableau Cloud is current default) and other reporting and data output capabilities available within and outside the Business as required Ad-hoc requests for information (RFI’s) and/or data extracts as required by the business areas.
- Data Governance for the Data Framework with data quality, data normalization and reconciliations a key responsibility as well as investigating, understanding and resolving sources of inconsistencies with data flows.
- Development and maintenance of customer lifetime value (LTV) models and consolidation applications data into a ‘single customer view’ of key interactions across the full customer journey lifecycle.
- Support the Analytics and Pricing teams by providing access to data sources and bespoke data extracts as required for predictive modelling purposes.
- Design Authority and Configuration Management for the Data Framework.
- Regular evaluation of new and emerging technologies that can evolve the capability and effectiveness of the Data Framework for the Business Data Governance, structures and controls that are commensurate with the business’s Regulatory and Data compliance (GDPR).
- Liaising with proprietary and 3rd party suppliers of the technologies employed in the data environments for any new developments and ensuring services are delivered in accordance with agreed service levels with these suppliers.
- Managing the growth, development and training requirements of the Data and BI Reporting team to ensure the function is adequately skilled and accounts for succession management and contingency of key skilled resources.
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree in Computer Science or related field (e.g. mathematically science).
- Post graduate qualifications in data warehousing, data modelling or general management information systems reporting.
- 5 – 7 experience years working in a data warehousing and business intelligence reporting environment and preferably in the financial or insurance industries. At least 3 years of senior team leader and/or middle management experience is also required.
- Proficient in Microsoft SQL server, relationship database management systems, ETL development and implementation as well as data mining techniques and tools.
- Demonstrable understanding of data governance processes including data quality controls and reconciliations, data minimisation and anonymization.
- Demonstrable understanding of the IT systems development life cycle and managing small and large scale project change.
- Good project management skills and ability to manage the delivery of several projects with DWH and BI reporting dependencies simultaneously.
- Experienced in Tableau or similar data visualisation reporting tools.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics would be an advantage but not essential;
- Knowledge of the insurance industry is desirable.
- Superior analytical and problem solving capabilities.
- Proven ability at solutions delivery combined with a detailed understanding of key business and financial challenges in delivering any solution.
- Ability to prioritise activities and multi-task, with drive to optimise the level and quality of service delivery.
- Ability to build strong relationships with team members, business users and external key stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and mentor junior team members.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and management.
- Self-motivated, with a clear ability to use own initiative and work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
