Our client, a successful and well established FMCG client based in Monaghan, have a requirement for an experienced Head of Health and Safety to join their team on a permanent basis.

This role will be responsible for leading the Health & Safety function to ensure the compliance of all business units with regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction and championing and promoting the Health and Safety strategy and culture.

Main Duties

· Champion and promote the Health & Safety strategy / positive culture across the group through proactive communication and the development of relationships with key stakeholders and agree improvement initiatives in line with this.

· Act as the Responsible Person for all Health and Safety matters across the Group, identifying and responding to current legal and best practice requirements.

· Develop a suitable audit plan and undertake regular audits with the team across all areas, monitoring compliance with the Group Health and Safety Management System and local working practices/procedures, ensuring appropriate corrective action is identified, prioritised and taken on any significant or uncontrolled hazards.

· Coach local and senior management so they understand their Health and Safety responsibilities and challenge them to improve their performance and ensure regulatory compliance.

· Use technical analysis of key safety performance indicators while interpreting performance trends to identify, develop and lead appropriate improvement programmes within the Group, working with management to drive continual improvement.

· Develop, deliver and manage an assurance plan, in order to provide confidence to local and senior management on Health and Safety compliance and performance and drive improvement programmes.

· Provide technical expertise in the investigation of accidents and incidents, with regards to root cause analysis, breaches of legislation, actions for future prevention and improvement.

· Represent the Group where necessary in instances involving enforcement agencies such as the HSE/HAS.

· Develop a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence in Health & Safety

· Conduct training and presentations for health and safety issues, accident prevention emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.

· Review and develop all aspects of the Group Health and Safety policies, and ensure that it is implemented consistently across the organisation.

· Proactively partner with each site management team on:

· Lead and Performance manage direct reports, proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's objectives.

Experience and Qualifications

· Honours Degree in Environmental Science, Quality, Health & Safety or related discipline.

· Minimum 5 years compliance experience.

· Experience of influencing management on compliance policies.

· Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations in Ireland and UK, with an appetite to gain an understanding across Europe and North America

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: €60,000.00-€70,000.00 per year
