ECS Recruitment is currently recruiting for Healthcare Assistants for our clients.

The role involves working as part of the care team in the provision of care services to the residents, promoting as much personal and physical independence as possible for the residents.

Main Responsibilities

· Support the Nurses and Management in the day to day running of the Centre.

· Follow and implement the care plan under the direction of the Nurse(s).

· Provide a friendly and caring service to all residents, family members and visitors.

· Assist with the admission and discharge of residents.

· Assist in delivering a high standard of care to all residents, always promoting their health and safety.

· Ensure the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of all residents.

· Assist residents with all self-care needs, including hygiene, oral care, mobility, comfort, self-feeding, toileting, dressing and washing.

· Inspect the condition of the resident’s skin during any self-care activity and report any changes or problems to the Staff Nurse immediately.

· Observe and report changes in a resident’s condition to the Nurse.

· Change bed linens, keep resident’s room’s tidy and empty commodes or bedpans.

· Ensure all residents receive proper assistance with eating and drinking and are given time to consume a healthy diet.

· Use correct procedures for barrier nursing and abide by a strict hand washing routine.

· Undertake the care of people who are dying

· Undertake patient moving and handling using safe and correct procedures.

· Promote participation of residents in planned activities and promote spontaneous activities among residents.

· Ensure that good standards of hygiene are maintained for all residents and that their clothes are always clean and neat.

· Escort residents as appropriate to outpatient appointments or transfer to another health care facility.

· Help maintain a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors through awareness and safety policies.

· Aid and orientation to new employees under the direction of the Staff Nurses and Senior Care Assistants.

· Promote a clean and hygienic environment by ensuring surfaces and equipment are disinfected daily, after use by residents or any time when soiled.

· Sort, fold and distribute laundry to residents.

· Ensure that all incidents are recorded, and appropriate action is taken.

· Be accountable for the responsible use of supplies and equipment to prevent waste or damage.

· Notify appropriate person if there is a failure with any equipment or problems with the building.

· Respond appropriately to all emergency situations.

· Carry out the duties of fire warden and be knowledgeable of fire and safety policies.

· Attend appropriate training, programmes, and courses.

· Respond to all resident and guest complaints swiftly and in a courteous manner.

· Work co-operatively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

· Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.

· Abide by the Centre’s Policies and Procedures.

· Other duties which may be required from time to time to keep the Centre running smoothly.

· Report directly to Staff Nurse on Duty and Senior Care Assistant

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Successful candidate may be required to submit to annual TB screening.
  • Hepatitis vaccination will be provided. A candidate may decline vaccination through a written declination or may provide record of previous vaccination.
  • Attending continuing education and training courses, including Manual Handling and Resuscitation.

Salary: €10.50-€14.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Dublin, County Dublin: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Healthcare: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
  • QQI Level 5 in Healthcare (preferred)
  • QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (preferred)
