We currently have the opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Kalispell, MT. This role will manage the service, repairs and maintenance personnel specific to our fleet of heavy construction equipment large and small. Our heavy trucks and trailer maintenance is under separate supervision.


Key Functions

  • Manage our fleet of construction equipment which includes heavy construction equipment and associated attachments, as well as smaller support equipment
  • Schedules and prioritizes equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Manages a team of mechanics and shop support team
  • Maintains proper records and costing data
  • Carry out yearly federal and state inspections for all equipment
  • Maintains physical conditions of the shop, yard and all surrounding area
  • Reporting on status of all equipment and vehicles
  • Maintain and enhance preventive maintenance program and associated inventory
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment
  • Develop a financial strategy that supports organizational goals and efforts
  • Effective record management (OSHA)
  • Build relationships with all customers (internal/external)
  • Maintain a safe working environment and demonstrates commitment to an injury-free work environment

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years of management experience or leading a team is required
  • Minimum three (3) years of mechanical background is required
  • Experience in the Construction industry strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of construction equipment operation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and demeanor
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, life-cycle management, budgeting, and budget management
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal statutes
  • Ability to be creative and is solutions oriented
  • Flexible with changing priorities and remain professional in stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations

Compensation

  • Hourly rate of pay $33 to $35 an hour based on experience

    • Year 1 – Employer covers 80% of total (family) premiums
    • Years 2 & 3 – Employer covers 90% of total (family) premiums
    • Years 4 or more - Employer covers 100% of total (family) premiums
