To provide IT support services to the client that is necessary to develop, maintain, and enhance the Census Bureauwide VDI capability, as well as to provide follow-on technical and operational support of the system.

The Citrix Engineer SME I responsibilities include completing work on major, complex projects with full competency. Coordinate with both technical and non-technical staff and vendors on the implementation of complex projects. Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex problems on both physical and virtual infrastructure platforms including VDI. Recommend, implement and document corrective solutions and preventative measures. Participate in evaluation and recommendation of new technology solutions. Document work in the form of policies, standards and knowledge base articles.

This position is hybrid, remote from home and on-site in Suitland, MD, must be willing to work on-site.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, plan and integrate technical infrastructure solutions and guarantee a secure infrastructure environment as well as production stability and performance.
  • Perform research, evaluate and provide documented recommendations for new technologies and tools within the IT field.
  • Answer phones and assist customers with VDI issues, VDI Connectivity issues, and VDI Application Issues.
  • Assist in deploying applications to customers in VDI
  • Assist in managing the ticket queue and working tickets that arrive in the queue. About 20-30 tickets arrive a week.
  • Assist with the rollout of large projects, including installing computers, networking equipment, server and storage solutions and more.
  • Provide off-hours support (24x7) on a rotational basis.
Requirements:
  • BS/BA-CS, CIS, EE, Math or equivalent technical studies is recommended.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working in a high-speed, fast-paced and ever-changing field
  • Sound knowledge of XenApp 6.5 and 7.6.
  • Sound knowledge of Citrix Web Interface and StoreFront platforms.
  • Sound knowledge of Windows 7/10 and Windows Server 2016/2012/2008 R2.
  • Sound knowledge of Hypervisors, VMWare vSphere, MS Hyper-V and Citrix XenServer.
  • Sound knowledge of XenApp farm migration and upgrades.
  • Sound knowledge of Provisioning services and virtualizing Citrix Servers.
  • Sound knowledge of physical and logical networking; to include Application Virtualization technologies (MS App-V).
  • Previous experience in working in complex infrastructure projects.
  • Experience deploying virtual servers within VMWare Infrastructure
  • Experience with building VMWare Hosts
  • Experience with design and engineering Citrix Infrastructure.
  • Experience in designing and engineering Citrix Secure Gateway
  • Candidates must be able to pass a US Public Trust background check for badging and to access client systems.
  • This position requires candidates that can maintain a flexible work schedule between the hours of 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM midnight.

Certifications (Required):

  • Must possess a Citrix CCP-V or CCA-V
  • VMWare VCP or Microsoft MCSA/MCP certification.

  • In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be a US Citizen.

  • Public Trust background investigations can take approximately four to eight weeks and requires fingerprinting.

  • The salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 annually
