Scope:

The Hot Metal Crane Operator is responsible for carrying empty and full ladles to the EAF, LMF, and Caster.

Starting Salary: $25.00 - $29.00

Job Responsibilities:

· Must be qualified or able to qualify to operate a crane through crane physical and testing.
· Full knowledge of OSHA and company safety requirements in overhead crane operation.
· Hand dexterity to push, pull, hold, turn machine equipment, and operate equipment
· Operates a crane in a safe manner to provide service to personnel
· Tests equipment including brakes, hoist limits, sirens, lights and crane equipment prior to each operation. Observes personnel and equipment in the area of lifted objects to determine a safe movement
· Sounds siren to warn personnel in path of lifted objects
· Makes lifts when signaled by maintenance or operating personnel on the ground
· Ability to recognize operational problems with crane and properly report.
· Must have the ability and willingness to operate ladle crane.
· Working knowledge of Melt Shop operations that require crane operations including Refractory, EAF, LMF and Casting.

Requirements:

· Prefer a minimum of five years in Manufacturing or in a heavy industrial equipment environment.
· Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in high stress situations.
· Mechanical comprehension
· Previous hot metal crane experience preferred.
· Able to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
