The Lehmler laboratory studies the biotransformation of environmental pollutants, such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and pesticides. Our long-term goal is to understand the link between environmentally relevant chemicals and adverse health effects, in particular neurodevelopmental disorders and metabolic syndrome. We utilize analytical chemistry tools to measure levels of environmental pollutants and their biotransformation products in biological samples from enzyme assays, cell culture experiments, and animal studies. These studies are a crucial component of risk assessment.

Currently, we are looking for one researcher to temporarily join our research team, who would like to contribute to research investigating the role of persistent organic pollutants in adverse health effects. The research project involves the analysis of environmental contaminants in biological samples using state-of-the-art analytical tools. A background in analytical chemistry is desirable.

Job duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Ability to work and cooperate with other lab members

Ability to work independently after the necessary training

Ability to do the research work by following the established SOP

Ability to prepare samples from various matrices (e.g., animal tissues)

Ability to prepare and organize the research data

Ability to process, analyze data and prepare figures for publication

Basic working experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable Skills

Experience in lab bench work and analytical chemistry

Ability to work 20-40 hours per week

Hourly pay: $15 per hour.
